Green Card / Adjustment of Status
Applying for lawful permanent residence while you are in the United States.
Adjustment of status is the process of applying for a green card (lawful permanent residence) without leaving the United States. It is filed on Form I-485. Whether you qualify depends on the basis for your application, such as a family relationship, employment, or a grant of asylum, and on factors like how you entered the country, your history, and whether a visa number is available.
Because mistakes can affect more than one application, the choice of strategy matters. Our licensed attorney can review your situation and represent you in matters she accepts.
Who this is for
- Spouses, parents and children of U.S. citizens
- Family members of permanent residents with an approved petition
- People with approved asylum or another qualifying basis
